International Taxation Conference – 2007, Nov 29-30 and Dec 1, 2007, Mumbai

Bobby Parikh, Managing Partner, BMR, has been invited as a speaker at the conference on Saturday, December 1, 2007. He will participate in the third technical session of the conference, named "Some International Tax Issues" and will present his expert opinions on "International Tax Issues Involving Global Trading."

The theme for the conference this year is international tax issues in "Cross-border Investments", which will see eminent tax advisors and professionals discuss and debate various facets related to the subject. The technical sessions in the conference include Current Developments, International Tax Issues and Treaty Interpretation Issues.

The participants at the conference will hear leading academics, professionals (e.g. accountants and lawyers), finance executives (from industry and commerce) and senior Indian tax officials, deliver in-depth analysis and their views on international tax issues. Besides, the participants will also network with senior tax professionals, revenue officials and tribunal judges in India and abroad. The conference will also be attended by Justice P V Reddi, Chairman of the Authority for Advance Rulings in India and Mr Vimal Gandhi, who is the current president of the Indian Income Tax Appellate Tribunal. Both of them will be presiding over discussion sessions during the conference.

The special speaker for the conference this year is Professor Guglielmo Maisto, Professor of Tax Law at the Universita Cattolica del Sacro Cuore di Piacenza (Italy) and the Founding Partner of Maisto e Asociati, Italy, as the special speaker. He will speak on "Investing in the European Union - Some International Tax Issues".

This annual conference was established in Mumbai by Professor Roy Rohatgi in 1995 as conference director. Professor Rohatgi is the founding managing partner of Arthur Andersen in India. Over the years, the annual conference has gained the reputation as one of the leading technical conferences on the subject internationally. This year, the conference is held in co-operation with the International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation and Asia-Pacific Tax Bulletin in the Netherlands and the International Fiscal Association - India Branch.
